TAMIL COMMUNITY EDUCATION

We aim to help new migrant and refugee children
and families settle down in New Zealand as they face a lot of
barriers - namely language, cultural and environmental. We will
be further providing educational programs, health and safety and
parenting workshops to help families settle into New Zealand society.
In our community we also have several children who
have been living out of their homeland for a very long time and
have lost knowledge of their mother tongue. This has resulted
in a communication gap within our own community and they are unable
to communicate with each other. To close this gap, we run a language
school for children to regain their mother tongue.
This will help to bridge the community together
and minimize the gap between new families settling into New Zealand
and families that have been here a while. We also want to provide
a path for integration between the two cultures.
It's a family education whanau. Our program focuses
from early childhood to adult education.
